Why we love it
The Taurasi is a red wine named after the village of Taurasi in the province of Avellino, Campania, often referred to as the Barolo of the south for its structure and complexity and made with Aglianico grapes grown in the DOCG area covering a few villages.
Made only with selected Aglianico grapes and only in the best vintages, and aged for a least 3 years, this red wine has a nose of violets and berries, in the mouth is full but elegant, warm, smooth, with soft tannins and black fruit jam flavors and a long and persistent aftertaste to be enjoyed on its own or with very rich dishes such as game, truffles and very mature cheeses.
The artisan who made it
The La Molara winery was founded at the beginning of the century by a group of four friends who are very passionate about wine. Led by Riccardo Morelli, they initially bought only a few hectares of vineyards and decided to buy in the heart of the DOCG area Taurasi, in Campania, where they produce the typical Campania wines, from Aglianico to Taurasi and from Greco di Tufo to Fiano di Avellino.
