The Sulla is a fodder plant, whose leaves have a hairy surface on the underside and red flowers with a tiny seed, a thousand seeds of Sulla weigh only five grams and this honey, harvested in Campania, has a light colour, almost transparent, with a very soft and slightly floral, with vegetable, straw or dry grass notes smell. On the palate it has a delicate and non-persistent sweetness and a hint of fresh walnut husk.
The raw organic Sulla honey pairs with cheese, its delicate taste makes it suitable for many but it prefers fresh cheeses, goat and sheep ricotta or sweet and sour dishes eaten hot or warm, white meats and small game. The Sulla honey is also used in the bread making process, it makes the bread softer, more durable, fragrant and browned.
Please Note that raw honey crystalize due to a natural process.
Not all honey is created equal, sometime not all “honey” is even real honey, a number of ingredients are often added to what we buy as “honey”. Raw honey, on the other side, comes straight from the honeycomb, and is honey in its purest form. It is unfiltered, unheated and unpasteurized, processes that can destroy the natural vitamins (high in vitamin C and B vitamins), minerals and enzymes found in honey and to get the maximum benefits from honey, it's important to purchase raw organic honey, because regular honey has been filtered and processed, losing some of its nutritional properties along the way.
The health benefits of raw honey are endless, check our honey guide
to learn about them.
Bottega delle Api is love for nature, passion for honey and bee care.
In 1994 Francesco and Giovanni started breeding bees, moved only by their passion and without any knowledge. They started with four hives, 30 years and thousands bee stings later, they now have more than six hundred.
They consider the bees members of their family, they are looked after using only natural products and are let to enjoy and produce honey in the most uncontaminated areas of our territory. Our Mediterranean maquis is so rich in perfumes and plant essences that their honey is naturally excellent.
Bottega delle Api is in Cava de' Tirreni, a few steps from Salerno, at the gates of the Amalfi Coast. In a splendid valley between the Lattari Mountains and the Cilento Coast, an ideal place for bees to thrive and produce an outstanding honey
