Why we love it

The Schioppettino di Prepotto is the "king" of the Schioppettino wine, made with grapes grown in the heart of the region. Made with handpicked selected grapes and wood aged for 24 months, this Schioppettino di Prepotto has a complex and intense nose with red berries and black pepper. In the palate is full and complex, elegant with fruity flavours and long finish.

This Schioppettino di Prepotto is a complex wine and as such requires rich dishes, from mushrooms veloutes to roast meat and game. Schioppettino di Prepotto is also a perfect accompaniment for mature cheeses such as our Bella Lodi riserva.

The artisan who made it

Vigna Petrussa is a family run winery situated in the heart of the Schioppettino wine region, in the small village of Albana di Prepotto, lying among the gentle hills surrounding the Judrio river's valley. Forming a natural amphitheater, this stunning area is also ideal for wine growing, thanks to the drafts that keep the vines dry and temperature differences between day and night allowing the development of elegant aromas in the grapes.

The marl soil (called "ponka") dating back to the Eocene era crumbles in the rain and the sun, therefore enriching the soil with mineral salts and microelements which are fundamental for wine growing, in particular for the Schioppettino grape and the grapes, native grapes, are planted at a very low density and the harvest is done manually. For the Picolit and Richenza wines, the grapes are partially dried on drying racks.
