Rose', DonVitantonio (75cl)

A blend of merlot and Montepulciano grapes that produces an elegant and fruity rose'.

When thinking of Merlot, Abruzzo is not the first region to come to mind, and there aren't many growers that grow the grape however, until a few decades ago, vineyards had a bit of everything, from Sangiovese to Merlot and whilst many have replaced them with more native grape, others have decided to leave them. Donvitantonio is one of them, with a small vineyard of Merlot, not enough for a red merlot, but enough for a rose' blend, and the results are evident from the nose to the palate, we can clearly see the impact on the merlot, not only giving elegance to the wine but also smoothening its palate and adding floral aromas.

Donvitantonio vini is a family winery form Abruzzo, a territory with a long winemaking and culture history. After gaining wine making experience abroad and in Italy, working in some of the best wineries, both Donvitantonio’s grandsons, Antonio and Simone decided to go back home, to their roots, and take over Nonno Donvitantonio vineyards and start bottling their own grapes, until them, the grapes were sold to the local cooperatives. Antonio and Simone are the 3rd generation and their mission is to value and promote indigenous grapes.
