Why we love it
Made only in the best vintages with the best Nebbiolo grapes from the oldest vines in the Cru Fossati vineyard, in the La Morra area, this Barolo Riserva rest for at least 6 years in the winery’s cellar before being released, and once it is, the result is a Barolo Riserva with a rich and complex nose, with violet and black fruit hints, in the mouth is silky, full, balanced, overwhelming, amazing.
Perfect with roasted meat, games and very matured cheese, this wine must be decanted before being drunk
The artisan who made it
Pietro Balocco decided to start bottling his own wine, the family had been growing and selling grapes for more than a century, only recently and now Federico, the young and talented son/wine maker, has decided to take the Collina San Ponzio winery where it really belongs, amongst the top Piedmont producers. Their Nebbiolo vineyards used in the production of the Barolo, are located in La Morra, one of the best areas for Barolo, but also grow other Piedmont native grapes such as Barbera, Dolcetto, Roero and Favorita that then bottle.
