Pinot Bianco wines are little known, in Italy and outside, unjustly overshadowed by the more famous Pinot wine, the Pinot Grigio despite being totally different and able to produce outstanding white wines.
The pinot bianco grape in Italy is mainly grown in Friuli Venezia Giulia where it has found the ideal soil and climate to product outstanding wines with great structure.
This Pinot Bianco wine from the Colli Orientali del Friuli, from our award winning producer Roberto Scubla, is a great wine, with a straw yellow colour and a bouquet with hints of flowers, fruits, with a recognisable golden apple scent. In the palate the wine is full, perfectly balanced, with a very long finish, this is a wine that evolves with time.
The artisan who made it
Roberto Scubla is an amazing person who is very passionate about his wines. He took a big risk and left a safe job in the bank for an uncertain future amongst the vines and he has truly succeeded in what he was trying to achieve. His winery and vineyards are located in the Colli Orientali area of Friuli, north east of Italy, near the Slovenian border, where he grows native grapes like the Friulano and Verduzzo but also grapes that have found an ideal environment in Friuli such as the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon or the Sauvignon and all his wines have plenty of character and elegance.
