The first time we tasted this Montepulciano d'Abruzzo we were really surprised by its freshness despite the vintage, it smelled and tasted like a young wine.
This wine, made from grapes from two different vineyards, one on a hill, at a considerable height and one lower in the valley, acidity and ripeness, fermented and aged in cement, produce an outstanding Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. A fruity nose, with notes of blueberries and black cherry, a smooth and soft palate with a lovely acidity and a great elegance.
It pairs perfectly tomato based pasta, charcuterie, pork dishes.
The artisan who made it
Donvitantonio vini is a family winery form Abruzzo, a territory with a long winemaking and culture history. After gaining wine making experience abroad and in Italy, working in some of the best wineries, both Donvitantonio’s grandsons, Antonio and Simone decided to go back home, to their roots, and take over Nonno Donvitantonio vineyards and start bottling their own grapes, until them, the grapes were sold to the local copperative. Antonio and Simone are the 3rd generation and their mission is to value and promote indigenous grapes.
