Why we love it
The Montefalco Sagrantino is Umbria’s flagship red wine and this is a fantastic example, a faithful expression of the Montefalco area and Sagrantino grape, a great, but very little know Italian red wine.
This is a Montefalco Sagrantino made with organically grown grapes with a very complex nose with notes of black fruit and spices due to the wood ageing. In the mouth the wine is full, powerful and elegant at the same time, with soft tannins and a long finish.
Montefalco Sagrantino is an aged wine and as such, it needs to be oxygenated before being drunk. The 2015 was a great vintage for the area and this wine can be drunk now or kept in the cellar for a few more years; it pairs perfectly important and rich dishes, from stew to game or aged cheeses or can be sipped as a meditation wine over a conversation with some dark chocolate.
