Why we love it

Raw, organic, chestnut honey harvested in Campania, unfiltered, unheated and unpasteurized raw honey with a very aromatic nose and a marked taste, chestnut honey is excellent with cheeses and yogurt and ideal for athletes. Our honey is 100% Italian.

Chestnut honey, dark in colour, sometimes almost black, has a fairly strong flavour and aroma therefore, goes well with medium-aged products, such as Asiago, caciocavallo, grana or parmesan and soft cheese. If combined with delicate cheeses, it would cover its flavour.

The raw Chestnut honey crystalizes due to a natural process.

Not all honey is created equal. In fact, not all “honey” is even real honey, a number of ingredients are often added to what we buy as “honey”. Raw honey comes straight from the honeycomb, and is honey in its purest form. It is unfiltered, unheated and unpasteurized, processes which can destroy the natural vitamins (vitamin C and B), minerals and enzymes found in honey; to get the maximum benefits from honey, it's important to buy it in its raw form.

The health benefits of raw honey are endless, check our noney guide to learn about them.

The artisan who made it

Bottega delle Api is love for nature, passion for honey and bee care.

In 1994 Francesco and Giovanni started breeding bees, moved only by their passion and without any knowledge. They started with four hives, 30 years and thousands bee stings later, they now have more than six hundred.

They consider the bees members of their family, they are looked after using only natural products and are let to enjoy and produce honey in the most uncontaminated areas of our territory. Our Mediterranean maquis is so rich in perfumes and plant essences that their honey is naturally excellent.

Bottega delle Api is in Cava de' Tirreni, a few steps from Salerno, at the gates of the Amalfi Coast. In a splendid valley between the Lattari Mountains and the Cilento Coast, an ideal place for bees to thrive and produce an outstanding honey

I am Italian and was desperately looking Italian chestnut honey and when I came across this one, organic and raw as well, I could not believe it. I probably use 1 jar per week.
