Why we love it
Valpolicella is a worldwide known Italian wine, one of the first wines to be exported.
Valpolicella is an everyday, an easy to drink wine from Veneto, nothing too complex or big, a lively red wine, medium bodied and with a lovely acidity, perfect to drink on its own or to accompany a pasta or a pizza, Valpolicella is a very versatile red wine.
Valpolicella is often a one dimension wine, however, good ones, offer much more and this Valpolicella Classico is one of them.
This Valpolicella is made from grapes grown in the heart of the Valpolicella area, called “Classico”, and therefore can call itself Valpolicella Classico, from grapes from a single vineyard called “Le Quare” located on a hill at about 400 mas and has plenty of fruit on the nose and a smooth and light palate.
The artisan who made it
Over the generations, the Gamba winery has been passed down from father to son and it is now run by the three brothers Giovanni, Giuseppe and Martino helped by their own sons and daughters. Located right in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area and spanning six acres, they grow the classic Valpolicella grapes, from Corvina to Rondinella with which then they make the classic Valpolicella wines, from valpolicella to amarone, from valpolicella ripasso to a recioto della valpolicella.
