Why we love it

An outstanding, elegant, full bodied, aged red wine made with Syrah grapes grown in vineyards located in the town of Cortona. Tuscany and precisely Cortona, is proving to be an ideal terroir for the syrah grape and Syrah grown in the area produces different wines, more elegant.

While the grape is grown all over Italy, from Sicily to Aosta Valley, Tuscan Syrah are truly unique. Syrah Clanis is produced only in the best vintages and in a very limited quantity and it is aged in new barrels to add complexity and longevity to the wine. The nose, initially shows spicy notes that are slowly replaced by fruity aromas, with notes of black fruit. In the mouth, it is balanced, elegant, with great texture and length.

This Syrah is a wine that needs decanting, using a decanter or similar, and allowed to breathe for a few hours before being drunk and is the perfect accompaniment for game dishes, stews and many more, check our recipe section for ideas, or just sipped over some Tuscan Pecorino.

The artisan who made it

The Dal Cero winery is another family that only recently started to bottle their wines, before they were selling it to some of the best Italian wine producers. They have vineyards in Veneto in and around Soave, where they grow their white grapes, Pinot Grigio and Trebbiano and in Tuscany, on the hills surrounding Cortona between Florence and Montalcino, where they grow their red grapes, from Sangiovese to Syrah, now at the fourth generation, they are taking their family winery amongst the top producers
