Why we love it
Of this Moscato passito or sweet wine, only 1000 bottles per year and only in very good vintages, are made from one hectare of Moscato vineyard located on the Abruzzo hills overlooking the Adriatic sea, with a very low yeld, late harvested to allow the grapes to slightly overripe.
The wine is then bottled and not aged in barrel, to obtain an extremely fresh, delicate and pleasant Moscato Passito with its typical nose.
The artisan who made it
Nestled in the Abruzzo hills, facing the Adriatic sea, is the small town of Miglianico, is located the Ciavolich winery. Founded in the late 1950's, the Ciavolich winery is now jointly run by wife and husband Chiara and Gianluca. Abruzzo is largely known for the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, but they also grow native grapes such as Cococciola and Passerina, only found in the oldest wineries and in very small quantity.
