Description
This Vin Santo Riserva del Chianti Classico, vintage 1997, is made only with the best grapes, left over ripening on the vines and then dried for three months in boxes before they are turned into wine and aged in barriques. The result is a dessert wine with a golden colour, rich, generous and a nose with aromas of honey, walnuts and dried fruit amongst others. Well structured, smooth and velvety, pleasantly sweet and with a long ending. The Vin Santo is probably the most known Italian dessert wines and La Casaccia's is a superb example, it is only made in the best vintages and only a few hundred litres.Producer
For over three hundred years, the La Casaccia estate, a vine-covered hill, has belonged to the Socini Guelfi family.In 1903 the Cavaliere Paolo Pagliano received the authorisation to decorate his wine bottles with the coat of arms of Mary Elizabeth of Saxony, Duchess of Genoa, as the "proof of her highest satisfaction with the quality of his wines, which have been suppllied to her house in Stresa since 1879".The magic of this slope, where cypresses crown the vineyards, which face southwards, kissed by the sun from the early hours of the morning until sunset, enchanting all visitors.
Passion for making traditional and prestigious wines has been handed down from father to son.
