If you ever speak to Massimo, the owner, you will immediately be hypnotized by his passion for Italian cuisine and you can see he puts his heart and soul into providing the highest quality dishes possible to his clients. These high quality dishes are prepared thanks to his meticulous attention to the ingredients he uses...they are all authentic Italian and everything Amalfi does centres around this unique concept. Amalfi is part of the local history of Sunderland and since Massimo became the owner the place is on the lips of everyone...all you have to do is ask around. The menu is truly Italian; from the recipes to the ingredients used...no stone is left unturned. There is also specials board where the chef places his creations of the day as well as a board for Italian wines with a little note at the end explaining that rare and unique wines have to be specially requested. If you are in any doubt which win to have with your meal ask Massimo he is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to selecting the most appropriate wine to accompany your meal. The menu comprises of the usual pasta and pizza dishes you find in many Italian restaurants but Amalfi has a wider range of meat and fish dishes.
