Verduzzo Friulano Passito "Cratis" Scubla (375ml)
|
|
Description
Rich, elegant verduzzo friulano, with an intense amber colour and a nose of acacia honey, nut and hints of vanilla. In the mouth is pleasantly sweet, concentrated, velvety, soft, supported by the typical tannin of the grape. This wine has won several Italian and international awards, including the 3 glasses from the Gambero Rosso. A masterpiece. Another award winning Italian dessert wine created by Roberto Scubla. The grapes of verduzzo friulano, dried on the trellis and exposed to the Bora winds are then fermented in barriques. This method is called “passimento” thus the name for dessert wines that follows that method of “passito”.Producer
Turning into the hilly tourist road from Ipplis toward a soft rise, you come to the centre of the Azienda Agricola Scubla that looks out over the vineyards. But, it is this rich soil that plays a leading role characterising this area and its wine.Roberto Scubla's estate was established in 1991 by combining some existing old vineyards to which new plantings were added, bringing the total grape-growing area to about ten hectares spread over the slopes of a gentle, sun-drenched hill in the southern part of the "Colli Orientali" Region, the Eastern Hills of Friuli.

We have been to an excellent wine tasting evening and this was the dessert wine. It was the nicest wine we have both tasted and ordered a bottle immediately and intend to buy on a regular basis. Although dearer than our regular wine, we both think it is definately worth the money.
